Field Technical Support Specialist

An interesting role has arisen for a Field Technical Support Specialist. The successful candidate will be required to assist the Diagnostic Sales team with pre- and post- sale technical activities with a primary emphasis on growing the user base of diagnostic products.  Also to provide technical direction and support to customers on instrument operation, assay development, and maintenance of company products.  Install instrumentation, trains customers and ensures a rapid and smooth start-up.  Make technical presentations and conducts product demonstrations for customers.  Assists in the evaluation and validation of assays.   Implement detailed customer start-up requirements related to both Cepheid products and customer-specific requirements.  Work closely with sales and marketing, QA/QC, research and development to address customer concerns, determine corrective action and customer follow-up. Position reports to the Technical Director.

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Install instrumentation, train customers and ensure a smooth and rapid start-up for new customers.
  • Jointly develop account strategies with Sales Representatives aimed at increasing business as rapidly as possible
  • Conduct technical seminars and presentations at customer sites, trade shows and workshops to drive thought leader adoption of company technology
  • Demonstration of instrumentation, software and reagents to customers
  • Assist in the development and optimization of assay on instrumentation

Integrate instruments into customer laboratories and provide support to the  customer during the evaluation and validation process   

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Bachelors in Biology, Masters Degree with special study in Molecular Biology a plus.
  • Clinical Laboratory focus, experience with reporting, excellent communication skills and presentation abilities.
  • Experience in molecular and microbiology techniques
  • Results driven and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability achieve measurable goals
  • Knowledge of diagnostic market and of PCR testing products
  • Technical support and sales experience
  • Excellent technical presentation skills for group and one-on-one presentations
  • Integrates with the sales team in planning and executing account strategies
  • Networks with the scientific community to grow the business
  • Ability to travel up to 75% with overnight stays
