Role Overview
The Director, Web and E-Commerce Platforms will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of the company’s digital platforms, including its corporate website and e-commerce systems. This individual will oversee the planning and delivery of a new, state-of-the-art website while ensuring scalability, security, and a best-in-class customer experience.
The role requires close collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and IT to ensure digital platforms enhance customer engagement and drive online sales. This leadership position will also involve managing a team of developers and external contractors, while setting strategy for ongoing improvements in web and e-commerce operations.
This is an on-site position based in California.
Key Responsibilities

Lead a team in planning, developing, and maintaining the company’s new corporate website and e-commerce platforms.

Define project roadmaps, wireframes, UX/UI prototypes, and digital governance strategies.

Ensure seamless technical execution, troubleshooting, and adherence to website security and compliance standards.

Oversee day-to-day e-commerce operations, including product listings, order processing, and inventory management.

Manage integrations with e-procurement platforms (e.g., Ariba, Jaggaer, Coupa, Tungsten) and support automated ordering processes.

Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance customer experience and digital performance.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales and Marketing to align digital initiatives with revenue goals.

Provide technical leadership while balancing business priorities and customer needs.

Regularly report to senior leadership on progress, strategy, and performance.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Proven track record in website development, e-commerce platforms, and digital strategy (life sciences experience highly preferred).

Proficiency in modern web technologies, UX/UI, CMS platforms, marketing automation, and CRMs (Salesforce experience ideal).

Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and scripting languages (Perl, Python).

Familiarity with XML, cXML, and procurement systems (Ariba, Jaggaer, Coupa, Tungsten).

Strong problem-solving and project management skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
