Production Engineering Lead – Scientific Instrumentation – SE London/Kent

 

About the Company:

We are looking for a highly experienced production engineering to join an expanding instrumentation industry in the Southeast London/ Kent. The role links departments such as Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and Planning and ensures that products released to the shopfloor are ready for manufacturing and testing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of operational strategies.
  • Supporting product development in providing input on design for manufacture (DFM).
  • Overseeing relevant qualification/ validation.
  • Designing tests.
  • Process routing.
  • Production times.
  • NPI.
  • Managing the Process Engineering team.
  • Reporting.
  • Managing SOP content and production documentation.
  • Managing BOM.
  • Championing Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Identifying resource needs.
  • Identifying areas for process improvement.
  • Ensuring members of the team are motivated, coached, developed and mentored.
  • Continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring the correct representation from the team in production meetings.
  • Provide input into NPD regarding manufacturability, final product consistency and cost optimisation.
  • Reviewing change requests.
  • Investigating customer complaints and managing resulting process improvement projects.

 

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience working closely with the product development team and NPI.
  • Six sigma and lean manufacturing experience.
  • Extensive production engineering experience.
  • Experience working with electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Experience in process flow mapping and Kanban.
  • Cell design experience.
  • An understanding of MRP and ERP systems.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience coaching, training and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
